SingTel discloses typical mobile broadband speeds

SINGAPORE: Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel) has published the typical speeds of its mobile broadband services in what it says is a first for the mobile industry in Asia. It publishes the speeds which customers can expect 80 per cent of the time. A subscriber of its 7.2Mbps plan, for example, will experience typical connection speeds of between 1.4Mbps and 3.7Mbps. SingTel says that as with all wireless technologies, the range of speeds and experience is dependent on several factors, such as the user's location from base stations, the number of users in the area, the mobile devices used, as well as the response of websites accessed. The telco has also launched a premium priority mobile broadband service which offers faster and more reliable Internet connectivity on the move.
