Review: HTC Flyer

WITH all the buzz around Android 3.0 (Honeycomb), it almost feels like any tablet based on earlier builds of the operating system (OS) has been typecast as awkward mutants, midway between phones and tablets. Earlier tablets released at end of last year, such as the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab, were built on Android 2.2 (Froyo), and the experience felt more like using an oversized phone. Google itself has said that anything before Honeycomb was not built with tablets in mind, and indeed, Froyo showed a user interface (UI) that had various spots of inconsistency, and menu placement that was clearly more suited for mobile phones than tablets. And device makers have been coming out strong with Honeycomb tablets, from the Motorola Xoom to the Asus Eee Pad. Even Samsung recently came out with the updated Galaxy Tab 10.1 running Honeycomb.
