The fact that elevated MRT tracks will be close to homes is so apparent in densely populated Singapore. It defies logic that the so called experts and consultants cannot foresee that noise will be a factor. Any fool can work out that as the population increases and the penalties imposed on private vehicle ownership take effect, the frequency of trains will have to be increased. Question to be asked is the the level of competency in the forward planning of our transport system. The obvious answer is that there isn't any. This poor planning is just the tip of the iceberg in the gross mismanagement of Singapore when it come to taking care of the common folk. Lack of affordable housing, not enough hospital beds, inadequate social welfare for the disadvantaged, education system that has to be supplemented by private tuition to attain good grades....the list goes on.
