MIT Professor Huang Yasheng is a well-known critic of the state-owned enterprise model, both in Singapore and China Last year, an economics professor from the elite Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Huang Yasheng, strongly criticised Singapore’s state-linked enterprise model, describing it as a “sure-fire way to stifle the economy in the long run” . Beijing-born Professor Huang made the remarks at a lecture at the Civil Service College, urging Singapore to re-think the “Temasek model” and let the private sector take the lead.
