Gone Case selected for READ! Singapore this year

SINGAPORE : READ! Singapore is back for its seventh year, with the theme of "Transition". The annual National Library Board event aims to promote reading amongst Singaporeans. Eight books, eight short stories and four poems - in the four official languages - by international and local writers were selected for the nation-wide reading initiative this year. One of them is "Gone Case" by Singaporean writer Dave Chua. It is also the first Singaporean work to be made into a graphic novel. Selected short stories in the Chinese, Malay and Tamil languages have also been translated into other official languages to encourage reading across communities. Since 2005, the reading campaign has reached out to some 155,000 participants, with more than 1,600 activities and some 90 reading clubs. This year, the 14-week long programme starts on June 23.
