Tourism worries as Sendai recovers from quake

SENDAI, Japan: The city of Tohoku in northeast Japan was one of the hardest hit by the quake and tsunami in March. Commuters were trapped inside Sendai train station for a few days after the March 11 earthquake. Fortunately no one was injured. The station only returned to full operation in June. The Hotel Metropolitan , which is connected to the train station, was flooded with those seeking shelter during the disaster. But they had to address their own problems first. Right after the earthquake, the hotel's sprinkler has broke and water was spurting out. From the top, water started seeping through the walls and the wallpaper started to fall apart because of the weight of the water. The luxury hotel's lobby was also flooded.
