Charity donations increase 13% to $776m in 2010

ORGANISATIONS and members of the public donated more to charitable causes in 2010, with $776 million received in tax deductible donations, the Commissioner of Charities (COC) said on Friday. The 13 per cent increase was revealed in the COC's annual report for the year ended Dec 31. Corporate donations rose 13 per cent, while individual donations were up by 12 per cent, the report said. There were more large charities with annual incomes of over $10 million, with 104 this year compared to 98 in the previous year.
