Family of Thai teen who lost legs suing SMRT for $3.4m: Is this too much?

The family of Peneakchanasak Nitcharee, who lost her legs in an accident at Ang Mo Kio MRT station in April, is suing SMRT for $3.4 million. STOMPer D wonders if they are demanding too much. The STOMPer says: "Is it too much? The sum SMRT offered was a token one, and now Nitcharee's family are demanding $3.4 million? "SMRT is not at fault and should not be held liable. "I do hope SMRT will win the case." SMRT offered the Thai teen a compensation of $5000 . However, 14-year-old Peneakchanasak Nitcharee's father has rejected the amount as it is 'unacceptable'. In addition, a group of anonymous Singaporeans donated S$250,000 to the Thai Red Cross society for the medical expenses of Nitcharee.
