SBS Transit celebrates 8th anniversary of North East Line

SINGAPORE: SBS Transit will be giving commemorative pass holders to commuters on Monday as part of celebrations to mark the 8th anniversary of the North East Line (NEL). From 7.30am, staff will be giving away some 70,000 card holders at all its 16 stations, including Woodleigh Station, which will start revenue service. For one month until 31 July, commuters can buy a pair of NEL train models at a special price of S$88 instead of the usual S$150. These will be sold at the passenger service centres at NEL stations. Each customer can buy up to two pairs of train models, while stocks last. Chief Executive Officer of SBS Transit, Gan Juay Kiat, said ridership for NEL continues to rise. It has grown from about 30.4 million in 2003 to more than 138 million in 2010.
