(TTR) PAP MPs doing away with ‘wayang’ to ‘connect’ better with residents

Stung by a massive voter backlash in the last GE, PAP MPs are doing away with the traditional ‘wayang’ put up by their grassroots leaders to ‘connect’ better with residents. As expected, the Sunday Days published a full-page propaganda today on the PAP MPs’ new ‘modus operandi’ to portray them as ‘caring’, ‘empathetic’ and ‘understanding’ leaders. PAP MP for Holland-Bukit Timah GRC Liang Eng Hwa claimed that he has been ‘trying’ to do away with formalities when meeting residents such as being introduced as the ‘guest of honor’ at events or given the limelight. ‘The purpose of this is to let the grassroots know that the focus must be on the residents and not the MP. I also want residents to feel that I’m one of them,’ he said.
