Man charged with posing as police officer to cheat $24k 17 Jun 2011 SOURCE: The Straits Times A MAN was charged in court on Friday with cheating another of $24,000 after posing as a senior police officer. Goh Eng Leng, 48, now a cabby, is said to have cheated by pretending to be a superintendent of police with the volunteer special constabulary to cheat Mr Chan Seng Huat, 49, of the amount on Sept 1, 2003. He is also accused of having a false Singapore passport at Shanghai, China, on May 19, 2010. A pre-trial conference has been scheduled on Aug 18. Goh, represented by Mr Sunil Sudheesan, is out on bail. If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to three years and/or fine for cheating. The maximum penalty for the other offence is a $10,000 fine and 10 years' jail.
