Asian companies made more renewable energy acquisitions last year than in 2009

SINGAPORE - Asian companies made more renewable energy acquisitions last year than they did in 2009, according to KPMG's annual survey of global renewable energy mergers and acquisitions (M&A). The global auditing company's Green Power: 2011 survey says Asian companies made 59 renewable energy acquisitions last year, compared with 29 acquisitions in 2009. The survey also highlights the hot spots and drivers of deal activity around the globe. It was completed by five different types of respondents - corporates, financial investors, debt providers, government bodies and service providers. The respondents were spread across Europe (30 per cent), North America (30 per cent) and Asia-Pacific (30 per cent) - with the Middle East, Africa and South America accounting for the rest. Some 78 per cent of the respondents expect new players to come from China, and 42 per cent from India...
