M'sia High Court throws out appeal of ex-teacher who was convicted for the rape of Singapore girl, 11

KOTA KINABALU - THE High Court has dismissed the appeal of a former teacher who was convicted on two counts of raping an 11-year-old Singaporean student inside a science laboratory of a private school last year, according to a report on a Malaysian website. Adrian Simon, 32, was sentenced to 18 years' jail each on the two charges and given four strokes of the cane by the Sessions Court on Nov 10 last year. High Court judge Abdul Rahman Sebli held that the trial judge made no error and the guilty verdict was fully supported by evidence, reported Free Malaysia Today website on Friday. But Justice Abdul Rahman also dismissed the prosecution's appeal for the 18 years' jail sentence for each charge to run consecutively.
