Malaysia is on the lookout for more good-looking officers to improve the police force's public image

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia's police chief said good-looking, smart and personable police officers will be stationed at frontline positions in a new policy to improve the force's public image. Inspector-General of Police Ismail Omar said he wanted his men to present a friendlier face to the public. "We want the public to feel our friendliness, so it isn't just about placing those with good-looking faces or having a nice body out there. It is about mannerisms and personality, too. They must be good-natured," he told the New Straits Times. He said, however, that it would not be possible to apply this policy for every frontline position in the country. "We can't do it for every (frontline) position, everywhere, that is impossible. But we hope to do our best as we feel this is what the public wants.
