BREAKING NEWS #sexworkers BRANDED with an 'X' by police in Malaysia

GEORGE TOWN - Police have defended the action to "brand" women who were arrested during a vice raid here on Wednesday night. State police chief Datuk Ayub Yaakob said the action was done to differentiate those suspected in taking part in vice activities and members of the public. He said the situation during the raid at the entertainment outlet in Pulau Tikus was chaotic as the suspects had tried to escape. "Some of them even ran into shops and tried to buy new clothes to blend in with female members of the public. "Because of this, we were forced to mark X's on their bodies." Ayub said he understood the protests raised by women's groups and non-governmental organisations (NGOs). However, he defended his officers' action by saying that they were left with no choice.
