SINGAPORE: A local entrepreneur has developed an idea for retailers to push their in-store promotions to members within its vicinity. By doing so, it provides businesses with a strong "pull" strategy. Chalkboard chief executive officer Saumil Nanavati explained: "Chalkboard (www.yourchalkboard.com) is a location-based advertising network that focuses on SMEs. "It places deals and advertisements into third-party applications on mobile phones and websites and pushes them to people who are within 1km from the advertiser's place of business". To date, more than 1,700 businesses have subscribed to its service in Singapore, with businesses in Malaysia, North America, Spain, Indonesia and Qatar having signed up for it.
