More than 40 years have passed since the first vines were planted at Cape Mentelle in Margaret River. But, as established and hugely popular as their wines have grown to be even here in Singapore, this progressive Western Australian winery is a young establishment, even by New World standards. But age isn't everything, particularly when it comes to wine. Its current senior winemaker and estate director is 34-year-old Robert Mann - who gained his earliest experience in the wine industry in his family's winery in Swan Valley, both in the vineyards and as a cellar hand - before moving to the Barossa Valley and then to Margaret River. He joined Cape Mentelle at the end of 2005, and has to date overseen six harvests - of award winning wines, no less.
