MCYS to identify gaps on women's issues

SINGAPORE: Minister of State for Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS), Halimah Yacob, said her ministry will identify gaps in policies and programmes affecting women in Singapore. She said there's a need to focus more on specific areas of concern. She noted that while women have made progress in broad-based issues such as education and equality, it is also time to look at the needs of different groups. Madam Halimah said: "If you look at challenges facing women today, there are now specific areas because our society has evolved and the population is ageing. "Issues like women and ageing - what does it mean to society, what does it mean to women themselves, and what we need to do in terms of policies and programmes."
