(CNA|sg) Singapore, Indonesia reaffirm Defence Cooperation Agreement

JAKARTA: Singapore and Indonesia re-affirmed on Friday, their commitment to the Extradition Treaty and Defence Cooperation Agreement which was signed by the two countries in 2007. On his introductory visit to Jakarta, Singapore's Minister for Foreign Affairs K Shanmugam said: "Today we-reaffirmed the close relationship between the two countries - the solid relationship." Indonesia's Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa said: "We are keen to identify opportunities for further developing and strengthening our bilateral ties". While ties have remained strong, both countries have not been able to realise the Extradition Treaty and Defence Cooperation Agreement signed in 2007. The country's lawmakers have demanded the agreements be re-negotiated, alleging that Jakarta has been short-changed.
