SINGAPORE - Some S$880,000 worth of drugs were seized yesterday from a Malaysian vehicle at the Woodlands Checkpoint when the driver tried to enter Singapore. An estimated 5.4kg of heroin was seized - the largest single seizure of heroin in the last three years - along with 250g of "ice". At around 5.45am, a silver Malaysian-registered vehicle was directed by Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers to undergo a thorough vehicle check when it arrived at the checkpoint. While searching the boot, the officers noticed rattling noises when checking the spare tyre. A small incision revealed several bundles wrapped in black and white tape hidden within the tyre. Suspecting the bundles contained drugs, Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers at the checkpoint were alerted. The ICA and CNB officers recovered a total of 17 wrapped bundles from the tyre.
