Singapore's Keppel wins S$621 million contract to build two drilling rigs in Gulf of Mexico

MEXICO CITY (AFP) - Mexican oil giant Pemex announced on Wednesday that it was awarding a US$420 million contract to Singapore's Keppel FELS to build two drilling rigs for shallow waters in the Gulf of Mexico. The two jack-up rigs - self-elevating mobile platforms that stand on the seabed when their legs are lowered - are due for delivery in the first quarter of 2015. Pemex is the world's fourth-largest crude producer with around 2.5 million barrels per day. Keppel FELS is a unit of Singapore's Keppel Corp.
