(CNA|sg) Motor Racing: A nurse and a chemistry major burn some rubber

SEPANG, Malaysia: Emmiline Ang has a chemistry major and works as a research officer at A*Star. Melissa Huang is a full-time nurse at the National Heart Centre. In between giggles, both confess that they were not very knowledgeable about Formula 1 racing. But those things did not matter in the end; the two petite ladies trumped 22 other aspiring drivers to become the finalists of the Red Bull Female Driver search. Ang won the selection race in Sepang on Monday, making her the first Singaporean addition to the Red Bull Rookies racing team, which is currently made up of two Malaysians and one Bruneian. Mark Darwin, a Malaysian, is the only male driver in the team. Ang and Huang admitted that they only became more interested in racing after being selected for the competition.
