ST Forum: Have you been pronouncing "Singapura" correctly?

WE THANK Mrs Jane Lai ("Pronunciation differs from 30 years ago"; last Thursday) and Mr Mohammad Yazid ("Pronounce Singapura correctly, please"; last Tuesday) for raising awareness of the proper pronunciation of "Singapura". The official standardised pronunciation should be "si-nga", as pointed out by Mr Yazid. This is the pronunciation taught in schools. The pronunciation used in the official recordings of the National Anthem is also "si-nga", as reflected in the score of the National Anthem.
