SINGAPORE - A nationwide survey has found, once again, that an overwhelming majority of singles here want to get married and, likewise, many who have tied the knot want to have two or more children. But these desires are being thwarted by the rat race and a perception that money is not enough. Yesterday, the National Population and Talent Division released the findings of the latest Marriage and Parenthood Study, which was previously conducted in 2007. The study comes amid heightened government focus on the issue, with a White Paper on population and an enhanced marriage and parenthood package expected this month. It found that among the 4,646 respondents - 2,120 single and 2,526 married individuals - aged between 21 and 45, 83 per cent of those who are single indicated that they desired to get married.
