As a developer, sometimes there’s the dilemma of whether to build for the web, for mobile or for both. A lot of it depends on the nature of the product and how it will be used by your users. Sometimes, it is good to have both the web and mobile versions of the product but other times just concentrating your resources on one platform would allow for a better product to be built. So when is it reasonable for a product to be on both mobile and web platforms and how will you justify the additional resources needed? What are the golden rules of design, usability and monetization when building only for the web or mobile? Do these rules change when you build for both? What are the synergies gained from building on both mobile and web?
