"Boyish-looking" 31 year old Mark Stevens is NY Times' Singaporean black-hat SEO expert

The reporter, David Segal, found that Penney’s excellent rankings were due to black hat search engine optimization techniques that violate Google’s guidelines. But that’s not the only thing the story uncovered. Segal couldn’t get a comment from the SEO firm the Penney used, so he found another black hat expert. This person is 31-year-old Mark Stevens, who Segal describes as “a native of Singapore”. ‘Stevens’, it turns out, is not Mark’s real name.
