Fake Fight Gave Feds Keys To 'Dread Pirate Roberts' Encrypted Computer

As news media reported on Oct 1, 2013, the dread pirate roberts, AKA Ross William Ulbricht was arrested in the Glen Park branch of the San Francisco Public Library, however there is more to the story connecting Ulbricht directly to the Silk Road. FBI insiders stated they knew his computer was using full disk encryption and were fearful seizing his computer powered off would block valuable evidence from being recovered. To access the computer unencrypted, a FBI surveillance team followed Ulbricht to the library, watched him log into his computer and then staged a fight between two undercover agents. Ulbricht reportedly stood up to view the staged fight and a third agent tackled him away from his computer while a fourth agent grabbed the running, now unencrypted system for immediate imaging (copying).
