Singapore, August 23, 2011 - One of the nation's current obsessions comes from Taiwan. The bubble tea craze petered out a decade ago, but, like fashion and karma, what goes around comes around. So bubble tea is back, but with a twist. Instead of artificial flavours, it is now a milk tea. This current milk tea obsession started two years ago and has grown steadily. If you see a long queue of young people staring at a board, they are probably waiting for their milk tea orders to be ready. And in the name of research for this report, I downed at least 10 cups of milk tea over one weekend. I ordered two types from each of the four bigger milk tea shops - the milk tea and the honey milk tea. Milk tea is the mainstay of bubble tea outlets, so if they get it right, there is hope for the other drinks. I ordered all the milk teas at 75 per cent sweetness. And honey milk tea? Well, ...
