Hawkers, coffeeshop stalls raise food prices during Chinese New Year

One diner was upset when she found out she had to cough up $1 for a small $3.50 serving of fishball noodles in Simpang Bedok this morning. She remarked sarcastically: "This fishball noodle stall in Simpang Bedok has found a way to start the Dragon year - by jumpstarting its sales by 28.5 per cent! "So-called rival to the famous 'Jalan Tuakong The Art of Mee Pok' noodle stall nearby, this owner cleverly chose to begin operations on the third day of the CNY as it's biggest rival continues to remained unopened and cunningly monopolises the usual crowd of mee-lovers by increasing $1 to the already sky-high $3.50 bowl which was pathetically small!" She added: "Worse, they do not tell you this or indicate clearly their intent."
