Chicken rice for 1 person, S$4.00 ($3.50 for chicken rice + $0.50 for liver) I’ve passed by this retro chicken rice shop several times, but never had the opportunity to sample their signature dish. The rice is mild on fragrance, but strong on the salt. The chilli is sufficiently spicy, but somehow lacks that X-factor. Unlike some places that deliberately undercook their chicken to maintain a soft juicy texture, Nam Kee cooks their chicken fully. Yay! Very old school, and no scary bloody parts for me. On the whole, Nam Kee’s chicken rice is decent but lacks a certain spark to make it memorable. Besides chicken rice, they also serve a whole range of zi char dishes. 201 Upper Thomson Road Singapore 574343 Tel: +65 6253 4502
