Kok Kee is that place everyone needs. The place you go to at the end of an absurdly long work day, where you're starving, and haven't the foggiest idea what to eat or where to go. So, you push the default button, and mysteriously end up at Lavender food centre, and in the queue for Kok Kee wanton mee. For some people, it's chicken rice, for me, I eat wanton mee when I've made too many decisions for too many people that day, and I switch into autopilot mode. Frankly, it's really not that great as wanton mees go. While the noodles have that basic springiness/chewiness that you look for in wanton mees, it just about meets the grade. The charsiew would fail most charsiew aficionados' tests. There's not enough siew in the charsiew, and the chilli is also nothing to write home about.
