$25 Dim Sum buffet at Si Chuan Dou Hua
Can never pass up a good deal, especially when it’s a delicious deal. At Si Chuan Dou Hua at Parkroyal on Kitchener Road, it is $25 for a dim sum buffet. And don’t scoff at the menu – it has 50 items, with more off the menu as well, so just ask the staff. The theme is nostalgia, with dim sum items that are hard to find these days. I love the char siew bun with preserved vegetable – a bite-sized and subtle mix of sweet and savoury. The Hakka dumpling with turnip is another winner. The pork belly with taro and Chinese mushroom is also a must-try, along with the crispy glutinous minced meat and shrimp dumpling, which you dip into a broth. And whatever the soup of the day is, just order a portion. It’s usually above average. For visual impact, order the giant deep-fried sesame balls.
