Punchy, flavourful gourmet Mexican street food at Lucha Loco
After being away for two weeks, I come back home ready to play catch up, visiting the clutch of restaurants that opened when I was gone. Some of them have not lived up to my expectations but when I walk into Lucha Loco (below), I am charmed. The Mexican eatery, which opened on Sept 28, looks like a larger version of a rustic taqueria one might find in Mexico City. It feels friendly and welcoming, like a place I would like to visit again and again. I decide I will definitely do that when I start eating. The compact menu, made up of what co-owner Julian Tan, 39, calls gourmet Mexican street food, is full of punchy, flavourful dishes. Take the roasted tomato chipotle salsa and guacamole that come with freshly fried corn chips (from $6).
