Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen Jane Austen’s well-loved romance novel Pride and Prejudice first appeared in 1813. The story, filled with witty conversations and unforgettable characters, centres on five unmarried sisters and specifically on Elizabeth Bennet. We follow the twists and turns of their love lives and wrestle with issues of social behaviour and the qualities of self. Gwee Li Sui’s lecture will elaborate on the novel’s powerful commentary on human nature and its foibles. This lecture is part of the following series - catch all four lectures!
