On its sophomore, Grammy-nominated opus What Now , that’s just what Sylvan Esso , the Californian duo of Amelia Heath and Nick Sanborn has done. Loaded with some of the most sinewy grooves and kinetic melodies to animate the ether in 2017, the 10-tracker is a document of shambolic world – and a blueprint of how to deal with it. Before they took the stage at the recently concluded Laneway Festival 2018 , we spoke to Meath and Sanborn about how their relationship enables them to make the art they do.
