STOMP - Singapore Seen - Distributing loan shark flyers: Why students treated like common criminals by police?

Around 80 teenagers between the ages of 12 and 21 were arrested by the police for distributing flyers linked to loan sharks yesterday (Jul 7). STOMPer Timothy feels that the police could have been more sensitive and handled the crackdown better, as many of the teens were unaware they were doing anything illegal. Parents had to pay $2,000 to bail out their children from Bedok police station. According to a New Paper report, these teenagers had taken up a holiday job to distribute fliers and name cards, which turned out to be advertisements for loan shark activities. The teenagers, some of whom were still in their school uniforms, were handcuffed and only allowed to be released on $2,000 bails.
