Singapore Police Force has come forward to explain their reasoning behind the use of handcuffs on approximately 80 students who were detained at Bedok Police Station yesterday (Jul 7). The teenagers are between the ages of 12 and 21 and had been arrested for distributing flyers linked to loan shark activity yesterday (Jul 7). According to a New Paper report, they had taken up what they thought was a holiday job to distribute flyers and name cards, apparently without knowing that they were working for loan sharks. The teenagers, some of whom were still in their school uniforms, had been handcuffed and were only allowed to be released on $2,000 bail. The spokesperson said: “In response to media queries, in a two day anti-loansharking operation, about 80 youths were arrested for suspected involvement in assisting loansharks in their business, under Section14(1)(b)(i) of the M...
