SINGAPORE: The Ministry of Finance (MOF) invites the public to give feedback on the draft Goods and Services Tax (GST) Amendment Bill. The proposed changes to the GST Act are expected to promote the marine, biomedical and logistics sectors. The ministry is conducting a public consultation exercise from July 8 to 28. The proposed changes include easing GST compliance for ships that are in Singapore for a temporary period of time. MOF is also looking to allow approved contract manufacturers like those in the biomedical sector to disregard GST on services rendered on failed or excess production. Other proposals seek to allow recovery of GST on local purchases of goods used in the contract manufacturing process as well as grant import GST relief for all clinical trial materials imported into Singapore.
