Govt turning to private sector for healthcare | SingaporeScene - Yahoo! News via @yahoosg

The Singapore government is turning to the private sector to help ease the load of healthcare providers in the public sector. This may result in the private sector being responsible for the training and education of healthcare professionals, and also taking a share of the load in treating subsidised Singaporean patients. Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam said on Saturday that Singapore needs all hands on deck to manage the growing demands for healthcare here, The Straits Times reported. He noted that even though most doctors start out in the public sector, an increasing number have moved into private practice, some even leaving before serving out their bonds.
