IM$avvy Info Hub: Global IPO activity rose in Q2: E&Y #investment #finance

'Despite the continued uncertainty of a global economic recovery, the IPO remains at the heart of many companies' growth strategy,' said Maria Pinelli, Ernst & Young's (E&Y) global vice-chair for strategic growth and markets. E&Y's global IPO update for Q2 2011 showed that this past quarter - with US$64.6 billion total capital raised - was the highest second quarter by capital raised since 2007's US$94.6 billion. In the second quarter of 2011, Asian exchanges accounted for only 42 per cent of global capital raised, nearly half of its 81 per cent dominance in Q3 2010. European and North American exchanges accounted for 27 per cent and 24 per cent respectively. Asian issuers also continue to dominate global IPO activity, accounting for 39 per cent of dollar volume in 173 deals or US$25.3 billion.
