[TR] SBS and SMRT to raise transport fares

HUge passenger loads translate to huge profits compared to past. Adding more assets is necessary to take on more passenger loads and to better services. When the operators renew their fleet, they sell off their still very good condition assets for a tidy sum of money as well..just like SIA. They would also be getting more fuel / energy efficient assets. Fuel costs go up and down. Not always up. Depreciation of assets should not be set too short such that they need to recover very quickly. Such depreciation should take into account the sale prices of the older fleet assets, for these are likely to be much higher than depreciated value as some could well be written off as they had already being fully recovered some time back. Why should there be price increases when labor rates had come down so much as many foreign cheap labor are employed? I hope the Government will renatio...
