Its call came one day after the two public transport operators - SBS Transit and SMRT Corp - applied to the Public Transport Council (PTC) for a 2.8 per cent hike in bus and rail fares. WP's media team head Gerald Giam, outlining the party's views in a statement on Tuesday, said its proposed transport body would not be driven by profit but would operate on a cost-recovery basis. He said: 'This would avoid a situation like we have seen yesterday where, despite earning profits of $215.4 million last year, the two public transport ...
