When he first started it, he was worried no one would show up, but 20 men did. They later brought in friends and friends of friends and today the cooking club that teaches husbands and fathers to whip up decent meals for their families has 80 members. For his efforts in strengthening family bonds, Mr Tay, a principal technical officer with SP PowerGrid, has been named last year's Most Outstanding Family Life Champion (FLC). He is the first man in the award's six-year history to win the title, beating 83 others - including 45 women - to it. FLCs like him, mostly grassroots leaders already, are appointed by Citizens' Consultativ...
