SINGAPORE: Singapore Airlines (SIA) said its overall load factor fell to 68.6 per cent in June - down 2.2 percentage points from 70.8 per cent a year ago. SIA said the passenger load factor was affected by the drop in demand in Japan routes following the March 11 earthquake. It added that East Asia and America also saw some weakness. All in, the carrier said its capacity increased 4.7 per cent to 9.1 billion from 8.7 billion seat-kilometres in the same period last year. SIA's cargo load factor rose 0.1 percentage point to 64.0 per cent from 63.9 per cent in June last year. This segment saw the biggest increase in the South West Pacific, which grew 5.6 percentage points to 59.7 per cent from 54.1 per cent.
