It's hotting up in here

Given the Marina Bay Sands' predisposed affection for star-studded gorging, it's no surprise that eminent food historian, author and India's "czar of Indian cuisine" has finally arrived on our sunny shores - well, at least in name. Like the many celeb kitchens, you'd need more than mere motive and means to splurge hundreds of dollars on, say, a grilled slice of prime bovine, to enjoy a steak dinner cooked by Chef Wolfgang Puck himself. Of course, the "taste maker of India", affectionately known as Jiggs, is not a chef. And the modest 120-seat Punjab Grill by Jiggs Kalra - complete with the expected show kitchen featuring its imported tandoor (clay ovens) - is not located in the "celebrity" nook of the MBS. Rather, the restaurant is fairly hidden at the quiet end in the south wing, next to a similarly spanking new Korean restaurant. Moreover, prices here are far from glamor...
