(TTR) Poll: 89 percent considering or actively planning to migrate

In an online poll conducted on TR Facebook , 89 percent or 512 out of 574 respondents are considering or actively planning to migrate. 62 percent are considering emigrating while 27 percent are actively planning to do so. For those who are thinking of migrating, their top destination is New Zealand followed by Australia and Canada. The key reason for Singaporeans not emigrating is family and friends. The result is not surprising. In a survey conducted by the state media in 2007, more than half of 800 youth between the age of 15 and 27 surveyed wanted to migrate overseas if they have the chance. Common reasons cited include bleak future, better job opportunities, higher quality of life overseas and lack of human rights and freedom in Singapore.
