S'pore students have a more cosmopolitan outlook: Education Minister

SINGAPORE: Education Minister Heng Swee Keat said students in Singapore schools have a more cosmopolitan outlook and interact easily with people from all over the world, something other countries are trying to emulate. He was speaking to reporters after a visit to Rivervale Primary to commemorate Racial Harmony Day. Mr Heng had returned recently from Bali. "When I was in Bali for the Education Ministers' Meeting, I observed that many countries are now looking at how they can equip their students to have that broad understanding of other societies and cultures. I think we have a very precious foundation which we can build on," said Mr Heng. Mr Heng added that parents are important as role models, and set a crucial example in the way they interact with neighbours and friends.
