SINGAPORE: The government is looking to encourage greater adoption of tele-health, with the advancement of info-technology (IT). Tele-health allows healthcare services to be delivered remotely enabling patients to be monitored in their homes. Health Minister Gan Kim Yong said this will reduce costs, medication errors and transport expenses. He said a call-for-collaboration will be announced in the coming months to encourage greater adoption of tele-health technologies in the area of community tele-consultation. It will leverage on the national broadband infrastructure. Mr Gan said it will also facilitate greater collaboration between healthcare providers and industry partners. He said the Ministry is also looking to exploit IT to enable Singaporeans to take care of their own health.
