Scientists discover a new moon around Pluto, a tiny thing about 13 to 19 km across

MOUNTAIN VIEW (California) - A tiny fourth moon has been discovered orbiting distant dwarf planet Pluto, NASA has confirmed. Astronomers discovered the moon, temporarily named P4, while searching for rings around Pluto on the edge of the solar system with the Hubble telescope. The tiny moon is the smallest of Pluto's four moons with an estimated diameter of between 13 and 19 kilometres across. Pluto's largest moon, Charon, is 1,042km across, and its other moons, Nix and Hydra, range between 32km and 113km in diameter. P4 was found orbiting between Nix and Hydra, which were both discovered by the Hubble telescope in 2005. Charon was discovered in 1978 at the US Naval Observatory. Despite the fourth moon's tiny size, it is not the smallest moon in the solar system. The current title goes to two moons orbiting Jupiter, J9 and J12, which are both believed to be less than 1.6km...
