Anonymous M'sian businessman spends S$5.89b on a yacht made from solid gold and platinum

KUALA LUMPUR - An anonymous Malaysian businessman has spent RM14.5 billion (S$5.89 billion) on a yacht made from solid gold and platinum, the Daily Mail reported on Wednesday. Up to 100 tonnes of precious metals were used to build the History Supreme (picture), from the gold-wrapped base to the deck, dining area and anchor. Platinum adorns the master bedroom, which has a wall feature made from meteoric stone and an authentic T-Rex dinosaur bone. The 30.48-metre made-to-order yacht was designed by Liverpool-based jeweller Stuart Hughes, 39, who took three years to complete the vessel. Mr Hughes, who also built a diamond-wrapped £5 million (S$9.84 million) iPhone, told The Sun newspaper that he was "delighted" with the History Supreme, his most ambitious project to date.
